The Spring Yeti

My blog posts are all over the place lately, and I’m so sorry about that. I’m trying to stick to my schedule of posting every Monday + Friday, but thats clearly gone out the window. Partly to blame is the fact that I’m currently trying to study for an upcoming exam, and whilst I have a few days of study leave I’m trying to cram up to 10 lectures a day… not really possible.

So I have been meaning to post this look for weekssss now,  and yes, thats exactly how far advanced I am with photos, and if you follow me on instagram you would have already seen sneak previews of this look.

I love how this look/shoot turned out, and I honestly had to painstakingly go through literally hundreds of photos! I’ve tried to narrow it as much as  I can, but forgive me if it’s still an overwhelming amount of photos of me! ahaha.

In this look I’m wearing one of my favourite layering pieces of all time – my shaggy/teddy/rug cream gillet or vest. I purchased this little number from H&M many moons ago, and I love layering it over pants, over skirts, dresses – and I ever layer it over a cardigan to turn it into a coat! In this outfit I’ve chosen to my (one of my many) pair of culottes from topshop, and to keep things simple have just worn a plain white shirt underneath. My reflective sunglasses from cotton on give this outfit a nice pop of interest and complements the gold accent from my LV bag nicely. Of course since everything was pretty neutral, I chose an LV monogram print bag as it would pop really nicely!

And on that note, I thought I would include a little review here about the Pochette Metis as some of my viewers were curious as to why I did not include it as part of my recommended 1st designer handbag.

The Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis

So I dont want to ramble on too much about this bag – if you want a separate review video on wear & tear and thoughts let me know – but as I’ve said some people where curious why I did not feature this on my recent video. The reason being folks is when I think about my first designer handbag (or atleast in my case), I think about a forever bag – in style, in function, in durability and in price point. I want it to be a all-rounder. Now I did not chose to include the Pochette Metis mainly because of all of the problems associated with this bag in the early stages, and also the trendy nature of the bag. I don’t see it as a classic piece just yet, and there have been enough problems brought up about this bag that I refrain from recommending it as a first designer bag. That isn’t to say that every PM has inherent construction problems, because if you look after your bag well, it shouldn’t! But if I had this bag as my first item and I ran into glazing problems or cracking problems right off the bat – I would just not be happy at all!

Now that isn’t to say I wouldn’t recommend this bag at all – because I do! Its a beautiful bag that offers a lot of functionality and versatility, and it’s easily one of my favourite bags from Louis Vuitton. But for reasons I mentioned above, I refrained from recommending it as a first designer piece – and I stress on the word first – because to me, that first bag shoulde the be-all and end-all… and I just don’t feel like this bag is quite there!

#AW16 Staple Styling: The Oversized Knit (Part 2)

chanel_woc_oversizedknit_straightlet-2

Sorry for the late post guys, but this is my part 2 on styling an oversized jumper. This time I’ve chosen to style it with my favourite pair of straight leg jeans for a more casual laid-back vibe. Because the straight leg jeans, oversized jumper and oversized leather jacket doesn’t really lend much to a feminine figure, I’ve teamed this look with a dainty Chanel WOC to add that luxe girly-ness to the look.

This is such an easy and go-to outfit because not only is it warm, it’s also so comfortable. I’ve easily worn this look more than a handful of times because it’s one of my favourite silhouettes to style.

Soft Spring Tones

ysltassel_pinkcrates-36

Luckily for us, Spring in Adelaide has been a lovely, with some cool mornings and sunny afternoons. Which means, I can still wear some of my lighter spring jackets! This short trench you guys have seen me feature on my blog before, but it’s become one of my favourite layering pieces this spring. It’s easy, its light, and the shorter length means it’s a great for my petite frame. This is truly my favourite length for a coat.

In this outfit I chose to complement two soft blush tones together, and having the different textures and lengths make the two pieces perfect pairs for layering. I love how the wooly sweater juxtapositions the sheerness of the T-shirt beneath, but the similar tones make them blend effortlessly. I think that everything in this look complements each other, even down to the shoes and the pompom colours on my bag. I really like this look, and during days when I’m not 100% sure on what to wear, I pull this little number out and just change the accessories I pair with it!

If you’re ever stuck for layering pieces because you’re worried about clashing prints, or colours, or textures – you can always start with soft colours or pieces from a similar colour family. It makes the whole look more put together, and in my opinion tasteful!

NEW IN: Chanel Wallet On Chain

chanel_woc-19

The addiction is real.

As a special blog-exclusive reveal, I wanted to share it with my fellow blog followers first the latest addition to my handbag family. I got myself the chanel classic WOC also known as wallet on chain. Isnt she gorgeous?? Believe it or not, this was another one of my amazing pre-loved/pre-owned scores! I did actually get it a while ago in July for my birthday! (I know, i know, what the heck. This is like the third bag I bought myself “for my birthday”…but I was in a spendy mood ok!! haha)

I have actually been eyeing this bag for a while as can been seen on my birthday wishlist, but I just could not ever pull the trigger considering that brand new this costs roughly $2800 AUD. Ouch! (Especially considering that it’s technically a small leather good!) But everytime I saw it in videos or in pictures, I couldn’t help but want it more and more.

Fast-forward a few months and I stumble upon this little number from a well-known Japanese consignment seller called Gallery Rare. It was in amazing condition and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect as ebay had 10% off circulating at the time – I mean, its a no brainer!

So here she is! My NEW TO ME, Chanel Wallet on Chain in Black Caviar Leather and Gold hardware.

First impression?

I fricking love this thing. Having never tried it on before or even seen it in person, it was a bit of a risk purchasing online. Thankfully Japanese consignment stores have a pretty good return policy, so I felt pretty secure knowing if I changed my mind I could send it back. On first inspection, I was so suprised by how big it actually is! Everyone says it’s so small, but I was actually able to stuff it with a tonne of items! I think that because my bag was made in 2014, the leather feels like it’s softened a bit making it more malleable for extra things? Maybe? But I do admit, I like to overstuff my bag because I like that look more. Also because it’s pre-owned, I’m not as fussed about wearing it out! The length was probably the biggest deterant for me (apart from price), but I figured that if I tie the strap with some leather cord I was actually able to shorten it! And honestly, it’s a game changer and I love it so much! It definately feels different from the chanel square mini because the chain is more dainty, the shape is different, and I’m glad I got the gold because it adds the perfect amount of dainty glamour to any boring outfit!

I’m such a sucker for an amazing deal, because it feels like buying Chanel on sale. And who can say no to that? But yes, what can you do! All I know is, I’ll have to sort myself out and get my blog sale started soon!

Sibling Twinning in Burgundy

LVcartouchiere_burgandy-20

Its the last day of winter, but it’s still as cold as ever. Burgundy is one of my favourite colours to wear. It’s such an easy colour that provides enough colour, but still keeping it neutral. I also think that it really complements any skintone, especially for my fellow caramel babies out there. Obviously my brother did too because when we left the house we were twinning in burgundy! It’s so funny that the coffee cups also ended up matching my outfit colour palette! ha.

Now just a brief note about this gorgeous vintage LV. It’s actually the cartouchiere PM and believe it or not, it’s the same age as me! 27 years old! It’s the smallest of the cartouchiere line, and is almost the same size as the chanel mini square (but slimmer). I just love the pop of LV print to an outfit, and I think that the vintage style is just so sweet!
