Slipping out of the comfort zone | J W Anderson Pierce Bag

Slipping out of the comfort zone | J W Anderson Pierce Bag

So there’s a little play on words for you! Sometimes there are things that you do, and things that you try that may not necessarily be you, because of social media/blogging. This is probably one of them. I have always loved the look of slip dresses worn casually, and being petite it has always been such a struggle to pull it off. But after purchasing the JW Anderson Pierce bag (which was definately not my style to begin with… ) I really wanted to do something that pushed my boundaries a little bit.

NOW, this outfit is not by any means ground-breaking, and I’d probably be the last one to put their hand up for being the most daring/creative… but this was out of the comfort zone a little bit.

In saying that – I think it looked alright! It may not be my most amazing outfit… but I loved how it made me feel. I felt different (albeit a bit odd… and out of place…) but I felt like a true fashionista (is that lame saying that? haha…) But you guys know what I mean – I felt fashionable! I didn’t feel like I just dressed nice, I felt bold and like I really put myself out there.

JW Pierce Bag – First Impression

So while I was here I really wanted to touch on the Pierce Bag again because I have recently uploaded a youtube video revealing it.

As I mentioned in that video, in the very beginning I couldn’t be any more repulsed by the bag. I thought – fad fad fad fad fad! But the more I looked, the more I saw, the more I liked! And now- I absolutely love it! It might just be the fact that it’s the newest and shiniest bag in my collection, but I have loved reaching for it for an easy grab and go bag! I’ve attached a leather strap that I use for my eva, and even though I rarely use it as crossbody, it makes the bag SO SO versatile!

So shall I quickly list some Pros & Cons for you analytics out there?

  • different – you can’t find this bag everywhere! I’ve sort of touched on it already… but you can almost find this bag in every instagramer’s wardrobe. However, where you can’t find it as readily is on the street! When you’re walking around with a chanel bag and see that the girl to your left and your right have the same bag as you… it’s nice to be walking around with something different but still very stylish!
  • carefree – It probably doesn’t look it – but this bag is the nudist/carefree spirit of the handbag world. Weird analogy I know… but bear with me. It doesn’t have a closure, it’s accordion style and the bag is really mushy. Which means, you can stuff it and everything hangs… but it’s al good because it looks great! Does that make sense? No? Basically its a fuss-free bag.
  • gorgeous colour – so this is more related to the colour or I got because it’s beautiful! Its a gorgeous rich mahogany which teams with so many colours so so perfectly! I could go on and on… but it’s gorgeous!
  • can dress up or down – I’ve worn this shopping, I’ve worn this on a date, I’ve worn this to church. This bag can literally take you from day to night. The size is such a perfect all round size. So it’s not too big to be able to wear for date night… nor is it too big for everyday!
  • spacious! – hard to tell but the accordion style actually lends this bag itself to being very spacious. You can stuff it soooo much and I’ve even managed to put a water bottle in there! It’s amazing and the softness of the leather makes it so easy to put whatever you want inside!
  • PRICE – Seriously, for this bag, you can not beat it for the price. Hands down one of the biggest pros!

  • repulsive – I put this here because some people can not love a bag but appreciate its beauty. This bag on the other hand almost puts people off it! (And then you have to explain and justify yourself sometimes and why you got it – which in itself is a con!)
  • quality – I feel like I have to put it here that compared to Chanel – the build isn’t amazing. First of all the hook isn’t as smooth as chanel or louis vuitton. It also has glazing and already I’m having cracking of the glazing especially where the flap hinges. At least if and LV item had a glazing issue – it was easy to get it fixed. Honestly with this one I wouldn’t even know where to take it!
  • No closure – I have to admit, as “casual” and “nonchalant” not having a closure makes this bag… I mean come on! Why wouldn’t you at least have a magnet! Because then what happens is you can’t quite stuff it too much because it won’t close properly. Also it means that sometimes the flap moves around and it might not align properly.
  • short strap – I was hesitant putting this here because this was one of the selling points of the bag! I love how it looks different with the short strap. HOWEVER, it is damnnnnnn uncomfortable! The short strap not only is not secure enough, it’s not comfy when wearing it short on the shoulder. It would be amazing if this came with a chain strap like the JW Anderson Logo bag! Also I think the strap on this is a lot flimsier than that bag due to the very soft leather

Overall Impression

So you’re probably wondering what’s my overall impression so far? Well look it’s still shiny and new to me – so it’s been positive so far! I love the vibes, I love how it makes me feel. I love how it pushes me out of my comfort zone… and it’s actually very versatile and user friendly!

Anyways it’s good news so far but I will keep you updated over the next few months!

Dior Saddle bag review & styling idea

Styling my latest obssession – Vintage Dior Sadddle bag

If you follow me on my youtube and instagram (basically anywhere else apart from my blog), you probably already know about my sick obssesion with this Vintage Dior saddle bag (or vintage Dior bags in general lets be honest… remember this post here?)

I was able to purchase this amazing piece from a Japanese Consignment seller for an absolute steal, and I couldn’t be happier. We immediately took some photos by a garbage bin (literally) and I actually loved them! So apologies in advance for the picture overload!

You guys already probably know that the hype is REAL with these vintage Dior pieces. Since Dior recently reintroduced the trotter print into their collection, everyone has been eyeing the second hand market for cheap vintage pieces with the trotter print. If you don’t know what this “trotter print” is, it’s basically the Dior monogram.

Now despite all the hype you’re probably asking – is it worth it? WELL, that dependsI thought I would by summarising it in a good ‘o pros & cons list. So here we go!

  • Affordable (depending on your seller!) – Ummm I got this for approx $250 AUD for a designer handbagIsn’t that crazy? Dior guys! Dior!
  • Statement piece – you feel almost cooler than everyone with their new dior trotter prints because its “vintage” (that always makes you cooler by default!)
  • Trendy – it’s back in style! The trotter print is crazy hot right now… and honestly vintage monogram prints in general are super popular!
  • Durable – Now this does depend on what material you get, but this canvas style is amazingly durable! I’m not worried about it scratching or deforming, and in general stains can be quickly removed.
  • Looks amazing with everything!
  • It’s iconic vintage dior!

  • Expensive (depending on your seller!) – Now I know that I just mentioned that this was cheap/affordable… but since sellers are aware that dior trotter print is back in style, they’re overpricing these pieces! So I have seen them sell for upwards of $1000 AUD (which is crazy!) So definitely look around!
  • Fussy – I sort of knew that this was a fussy bag because of the shape alone, but I didn’t realise just how fussy! Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not as bad as other bags out there, but the fact that it’s in a weird saddle shape does mean it takes you an extra minute or two to pack the bag.
  • Doesn’t fit much – I have to admit that for the size I did expect it to fit more than it does. It still fits the essentials, but would have been nice to fit a lot more.
  • Not super versatile – You guys know I’m the biggest fan of versatility. And the definition of versatility in a bag to me is it’s ability to be able to be worn several ways. Hand carry, shoulder, cross body, etc. Now this bag has a short strap which is amazing for the shoulder, but unfortunately this is not removable so I cant make it quite work for crossbody. Which is a real shame because the mini version of this is PERFECT for cross body!

So after all that do I personally recommend it? YES! BECAUSE I LOVE IT!

I think at the end of the day if a bag makes you excited about wearing it, that what matters. And honestly, I’m totally smitten with this bag. I love how I feel cool wearing it, I feel trendy and “on point”. And it always makes me happy when vintage bags are able to make a come back because who doesn’t love recycling trends and pieces? If you’re one of the lucky few who had a bag-a-holic mother/father – how cool is it rocking a piece that has been passed down?

What are you waiting for? Get shopping!

So if you’re after your own vintage piece, there are two main places I do recommend and have personally shopped for. First is of course ebay (because if I could be the company mascot I so would)… and the second is actually vestiaire collective. Not sponsored by either of them, but I do think they have the best deals available. Make sure you always authenticate your pieces though! New Chloe Faye handbag from and how you can save too!

Meet the bag that nearly got away – the Chloe Faye Medium in Plum Purple!

So if you watched my youtube channel you guys would know the LONG story about how I finally came to acquire this gorgeous bag.

If you haven’t, long story short it was an absolute mission to find this bag in this colour! I’ll try and break it down. Basically I had the opportunity to own this bag early last year in the black or the burgundy. I was nervous about having my first coloured bag so I opted for the black. Unfortunately with all it’s little nuances, and the fact that the black didn’t really captivate me, I returned the item. However I couldn’t stop drooling over it every time I saw it on instagram. Not to mention I always found myself stalking it online!

It wasn’t until I stumbled upon Sinead Crowe’s blog that I saw how amazing this colour truly was. And instantly, I knew I needed to have it! When I finally decided I wanted it, it dawned on me that it was completely sold out everywhere! It was just no where to be found! That is until I remembered Cultstatus – and there it was. The beautiful plum purple colour that I was obsessing over! As I mentioned in the video, although there are clear negatives about this bag including the fact that it’s overplayed and very fussy and at times not very practical, this colour had me SWOONING and now I’m positively obsessed!

I seriously have to thank for helping me finally have this in my collection! They have also kindly given my readers and subscribers a discount code off their website!

So if you are looking to get your own faye, you can get 10% off their entire website using the code “HEYYYJUNEFS”!! This offer ends 31st May 2017 so GET ON IT GIRL!

Outfit Details:

Hello there, Lady Dior.

Welcome back to my blog guys! Today I’ll be sharing with you one of my favourite pre-loved purchase to date, and that is the amazing LADY DIOR! If you’ve come here from my YouTube channel – welcome! But if you’ve come here through google or elsewhere you’re probably wondering HOW I managed to score this gorgeous piece for THOUSANDS less than retail!

Simple answer: Buy Preloved!
Lady Dior handbags are one of the best handbags to purchase second-hand because of it’s lower resale value on the preowned market.

I know that buying secondhand is not for everyone, and if you want me to do a more step-by-step process on how to buy second-hand or how to authenticate bags, let me know.

But today I just wanted to supplement my YouTube video with some detailed pictures on this bag just to show you that preowned/second-hand bags DO NOT have to be in rubbish condition or very worn condition to still be sold at a great price point.

The process

As you guys know I’m a massive fan of pre-owned bags, and when I browse preowned websites I have previously noticed how poorly Dior bags resale for. For that reason alone, I had never really thought about adding it to my collection. Until that is, I tried it on in store. Its was gorgeous. At the time I tried on the new model in the new size and wide strap. I loved it, but when I went to enquire about it I was told it was $7000+ AUD! That was crazy to me, and for that price I would much rather buy a chanel! I remembered then that Diors sold for crazy less on the second-hand market so I did proceed to my favourite online consignment seller – Ebay. I basically stalked this bag until I found one that I wanted and then made the purchase!

The cost.

So if you follow me on my YouTube channel you would know that I was able to purchase this for approx $1500 AUD! That’s not including tax or duties, but come on! That is only a FRACTION of what it retails for in store! Now for any items over $1000 AUD you do have to pay tax + duties on top which is approximately 15%. Luckily Ebay was having 10% off at the time so I was able to add some savings onto that. Regardless for an all leather bag, and decent condition, I honestly couldn’t be happier with a $1.5K price tag! I did purchase from a Japanese consignment seller that had good feedback, and prior to purchase I did actually have it authenticated on the purseforum which is a great resource for anyone looking to purchase second-hand bags!

The condition.

As you guys know with vintage pieces you do need to be wary of the wear and tear. The bag was almost 20 years old and to be honest the condition is AMAZING. Granted the cannage quilts aren’t as puffy as a brand new one – but everything else was great! It was clean, no musty odour, the gold hardware was still a bright yellow gold, and it was still in great shape! You do have to be careful when buying lady diors second-hand I have found that there are some older pieces in terrible condition!

Obviously it’s completely up to you with what you can afford, but I felt like one of the selling points of this dior bag was structure so I knew that this was something I didn’t want to compromise on. I should note that my bag also didn’t come with a dust bag/box/authenticity. For me this dior wasn’t a holy grail and really I just wanted to try it out. For that reason I was happy to trade the extras (such as box, dustbag, cards) for some savings on the bag. There was another bag in similar condition with all the extras for $500AUD more – I decided paying $500 for a cardboard box was not worth it and skipped on it.

The first impression.

If you couldn’t tell already, I’m pretty much over the moon about this bag. It is the exact reason I stress to everyone how amazing buying second-hand can be! I just saved myself THOUSANDS of dollars going pre-owned route, and I have this amazing vintage bag to show for it. Now not only have I not splurge money that I can now save for something else, having a “used” piece means I can wear it without being too worried about wear & tear or damaging the bag. I can just enjoy it, and brag to everyone at how I was able to score this for an amazing price!

So there it is guys, if you haven’t seen the my YouTube video yet please check it out below!

The “Cassandre” : Saint Laurent Bag Review

The “Cassandre” : Saint Laurent Bag Review

ysl_review-4ysl_review-1 ysl_review-7 ysl_review-2ysl_review-5

If you watch me on YT you would know I purchased this cutie YSL bag a few months ago, and since acquiring it, it has been such an easy go-to black cross body bag for me. To try and brake up what may turn into a long essay, I will break it down into purchasing process, pros & Cons, and of course my overall opinion 🙂

Price & Specifications

  • This item’s measurements are:
  • Depth 5cm
  • Height 15cm
  • Max. Strap Length 94cm
  • Min. Strap Length 61cm
  • Width 23.5cm

So I bought this item from Net-a-porter. I have been looking at this item ever since the beautiful Samantha featured it on her YT channel and styled it on her blog. It looked like such a versatile piece that could actually fit a lot! I had been looking at different boutiques and was actually able to try it on in store at David Jones. At the time they were RRP 3100 AUD at DJ in this exact model, with slight differences in price depending on whether it was croc embossed or not. From the Saint laurent website it sold for $2700 AUD, similar to other online stores such as selfridges, netaporter, mytheresa, and matchesfashion. There was no rush in purchasing this item, however when it was back instock on net-a-porter and there was a 15% off discount code laying around… I jumped at the chance!

  • Looks amazing & plenty of styles to choose from – lets not kid ourselves, this bag is beautiful. This is very obviously a pro for me. Its classy with just the perfect amount of edge. Not to mention it comes in so many different colours, different materials, different metals, and even different sizes! There’s a perfect combination for everyone 🙂
  • Large compartment – You can definitely fit more than just the “essentials”. You can pack a large wallet, keys, a camera, a phone, even a kindle/book if the size suits. Definitely something you don’t have to be too worried about. Obviously it’s not an everyday tote bag, so you wont be able to fit the kitchen sink in there… but trust me you can fit enough!
  • Durable/scratch free leather  – If you want something durable, couldnt recommend the croc embossed enough!
  • Perfect strap length
  • Versatility in styling – There’s so many ways you can wear this, as small shoulder, as crossbody, as a long shoulder bag, and even a clutch on nights out
  • Price – Believe it or not, the price seems to have actually gone down! Its now $2400 AUD RRP, and at the time I was looking to purchase it was going for $2700. Now that can be both a good and bad thing. Good in that I think that for $2500 you’re getting an amazing bag, but bad in that I dont know if that means it will go on sale later and how it will resell in the future.

  • Tassel can get annoying – Although I love the tassel detail, the small little chain tassels actually gets caught in the YSL monogram at times which can be really annoying
  • Magnetic closure can be tedious – Sometimes if it’s fully packed you have to pay attention to the closure because it has to be just right. It only takes a few seconds more, but if you’re constantly opening and closing your bag this can be annoying
  • Puffing – I mentioned this in my video but for some reason the flap of my bag seems to be puffing and I dont know if this is just normal wear and tear or not… but sometimes this actually bugs me.
  • Straps can be uncomfortable at times – Because of the chain strap, if you stuff this bag with heavy heavy items it can just be a little bit uncomfortable. But worse part is honestly when it’s freezing and you have to put this on bare skin.. ohhh man. Lets be honest though, this is just part and parcel of having a metal strap.
  • Resell – As I mentioned above, I’m not sure what the wear and tear is like with Saint Laurent, or how they resell. It’s not LV/Chanel money, so its hard to predict. I would recommend if you’re looking to get this, get it for the enjoyment of having it with view to keep rather than reselling.
