Customise your Christmas with Personalised Gifts from Etsy

Stuck on gift ideas for your loved one, but still want to get them something personal and amazing? Have no fear! I have you covered with my Etsy Christmas Gift Guide!

So when I was asked to collaborate with Etsy Australia this Christmas I couldn’t have been happier. I’ve been a shopper of Etsy for years, having bought a million stickers and washi tapes from there before, and so I knew immediately that I wanted to do it!

When it comes to personalised, quirky gifts – Etsy is the place. It is the utopia/mecca for anything and everything that can be customised. And what could be a better gift than something that has been made specifically for that special person? So here I am, bringing you some of my favourites and actual christmas gifts that I’ll be giving to my loved ones this year, along with some other amazing alternatives.

For Him.

So first gift idea is for that special man / men in our lives. Now since I’ve already purchased my partner his Christmas present, the other special man that I wanted to gift was my father.

He is a functional man, with simple but elegant tastes. I wanted something that was personal, but not over the top. There were a few gifts that I came across that I thought would be perfect for him (or for any special guy out there for that matter – husband, brother, boyfriend). I came across this wooden watch which I thought was brilliant because it was quirky and different, but still functional. I also loved that you could customise it to include a special engraving on the back. This would be perfect for a partner, or even a much loved brother!

I also came across some monogramed alcohol decanter with some matching glasses. If you have a man who loves his alcohol this would be perfect!

Finally I decided that a wallet would be best suited for him, and this monogramed leather wallet was it! I played with the idea of cardholders (like this one), or even a simple pouch (like this). But ultimately I decided on this wallet because it’s familiar but with a touch of elegance and personality. I love that you can pick your initials in gold or silver foil, and for the plain janes out there (like my father) – just simple clear embossing. It turned out great and I’m sure this is something he would love for sure!

For Her.

Now for that special lady, I feel like you really can’t go wrong with jewellery. I mean, what girl doesn’t love bling? Luckily, jewellery is where you can go absolutely mental with personalising your gift on Etsy!

One of my absolute favourites was this gorgeous necklace which has an opal pendant along with a personalised disc plate. I instantly fell in love with the chain, the daintiness of the pendant, and of course the price! I loved it soooo much… that I might have actually bought this one for myself! (Oops!!)

But honestly, I could spend hours looking at the amazing customisable jewellery available on Etsy. There were so many beautiful pieces that I almost couldn’t decide which one to order. One of the other pieces I was looking at was this beautiful bar necklace that you could customise with your name and coordinates. This would be perfect for a special someone, and you could engrave it with the coordinates of where a special moment took place – for example where you met, your first home together, your favourite restaurant… the list could go on!

There was also a beautiful larger pendant which would be perfect for sentimental mums or grandmothers where you could get names engraved. It could be their brothers/sisters, children, or even the names of their pets!

Another great gift idea were these cuff bracelets which you could engrave basically anything you want (even your own handwritting if you wanted!). And of course for the ring lovers out there, these stackable customised rings are beautifully dainty! The gift ideas in this category are endless! Like, trully endless!

For the boys.

So for the boys… those darn boys. This is for those guy friends we all have, work colleagues or even siblings / brothers in law. I actually come from a large family of 7, with 3 of them being younger brothers. You can imagine that sometimes buying gifts for these boys can be particularly hard. If I’m honest, most of the time (if not all the time..) I do get variations of the same gift for each brother.  When I came across these personalised army knives and I just thought – Brilliant! One for each brother and I’m sweet! I remember getting my dad an engraved army knife from Switzerland many years ago, and it actually went down a treat! It’s a great gift for guys because it’s functional and they’re always handy! I mean what guy would say no to one of these? (Let be honest, if I received one I certainly wouldn’t be complaining!) The wood finish is also an amazing touch because it takes it from functional to cool!

There are actually a few different fonts/styles of engraving you can choose from, and if army knives are not your thing, there are also bottle openers, hip flasks or even beer holders which you can personalise and gift to any boy in your life.

For the girls.

Now you can actually pick any gift ideas that I’ve already mentioned above for a girlfriend. For example jewellery is always a great pick, and a personalised wallet/cosmetic case can work well too. But just to change things up, I why not get them a customised foil print decoration? With this one I just chose a motivational quote that was in-stock and ready to be shipped… but you can actually customise it to say anything you want! Maybe an in-joke, or even a motivational quote the both of you identify with. Alternatively you can just put their name, or their latest achievement! Sky is the limit with this, and home decor usually goes down well as a christmas gift! To add an extra touch, find a beautiful vintage frame to add character to the foil print you picked out!

Alternatively you could go for the bath and beauty section. Etsy is the place to go for customised soap / gels / bath bombs. You could even pick gift packs which are wrapped beautifully with a variety of mixed goodies like this one (which comes facial mask goodies) or this one (which will be perfect for a nice relaxing bath).

If your girl friend has a bit of a green thumb, I found this really creative gift basket with succulents! It’s adorable and totally different from any other gift pack that you can by anywhere else!

Lastly, why not get a little knick-nack such as these gingerbread earringsHello, are they not the most adorable little earrings you’ve ever seen?! There’s such a variety in the type of little polymer clay earrings you can get! There are christmas trees and snowmen to keep the festive spirit, but also donuts, cookies, pretzels and even cupcakes! Buy your friend her favourite food to wear on her ears this christmas! (They’re way too cute not to love!)

For them.

So finally, for the collective. When I mean them I refer to the group of people we sometimes gift collectively because it’s easier – not only for time management, but also on the wallet. For example a family, newly wed couple, your in-laws or your grandparents! Sometimes it’s not always feasible to give individual presents, however buying a collective present doesn’t have to mean cheap either. I found some amazing gift ideas that are thoughtful, but still easy on the pocket!

The piece I selected for this cateogry is this beautiful handcrafted book decoration for my parents. It got me because it’s so quintessentially Etsy! When you think of beautiful, handmade, handcrafted pieces you think of Esty and pieces like this. I mean It’s essentially a book, but someone was clever enough to  figure out a way of folding it, to form a word! How amazing is that! You can pick two letters with a love heart (like what I’ve done), or you can also pick a name or a word (like Christmas!) The options are endless, and this was and actually amazing pick for the price! It’s a one of a kind gift, and perfect for that couple who have everything!

Another other amazing couple/family gift idea is a customised cheese board. There are so many designs, and they’re perfect for any couple who have just gotten married! This particular design I think is gorgeous, but you can also get customised chopping boards or wooden serving cutlery if that is preferred!

And finally, one of my absolute favourite and one I will be getting next year for sure is this beautiful family cross-stitch! I really wanted to get one but unfortunately they were all sold out when I was looking at the time. However if I was you, I’d definitely bookmark this page so that when it goes back in stock you can order one asap! It’s a sweet little gift and will be a hit no matter who you gift it to! I mean, not only can you have every member the the family included, you can also include pets/animals too! How cute is that! And lets be honest… who doesn’t love a cross stitch of themselves? TRUST ME, this is one you have to check out!

So that’s it!

That is my Etsy Christmas gift guide to the special people in your lives. Let me know if this helped, or if it gave you some good ideas that you can gift to your loved ones. Believe it or not, I’m not actually the best at picking gifts for people. But Etsy makes it so easy to get someone something that is perfectly personalised for them!

You guys should let me know – what was your personal favourite from my picks!

#AW16 Staple Styling: The Duffle Coat Part 2

Hello, hello! It’s been a while hasnt it? (Atleast for my blog!) I know this is more than 1 week too late, but I still wanted to complete my styling series so here is the part 2.

This look is quite a simple and casual one, just for those girls who aren’t interested in anything too fussy, and you just want a casual look thats comfy and warm. Here I’ve teamed up an everyday pair of ankle skinny jeans with my favourite comfy sweater. To make it a bit more interesting I’ve snuck a button up shirt underneath and wore some slingback loafers. I topped the look off with my oversized but very warm duffle coat, and believe me even though this was a wet windy day, I was snug as a bug in a rug!

Personal Update!

Now while I had you guys, just thought I would update you with some plans I have for this blog and youtube channel, and personal updates regarding my life

  1. I’m crazy frantic with my upcoming exam! I am currently undertaking a diploma and I have exams at the end of the year (1 month) Typical June fashion, I’ve left it a little bit late, and I now have a few 100 lectures I’ve got to go through in the next 1 month – needless to say I’m going be busy!
  2. I’m doing Vlogtober! If you follow me on my youtube channel you may have seen that I’m doing vlogtober. Unfortunately due to my busy schedule this month the uploads have been a little bit late, but believe me I’m frantically trying to edit the videos and upload any spare minute I have!
  3. I got a haircut! You would know this if you follow my snapchat or instagram, but I’ve recently got myself a hair cut including bangs! Now this does mean that it dates all my videos and photos, but I have decided to still continue uploading them to my blog because 1) they’re awesome pictures and 2) does it really matter? So this is just a forewarning that my photos on the blog will not feature my new hair, but I hope it doesn’t bother you guys too much, and you still enjoy them none the less!

So thats it for now — I’ll be back with my regularly scheduled blog posts commencing tuesday so stay tuned! xoxo

If you guys haven’t seen it yet, check out the first week of VLOGTOBER!

A reminder to stay inspired!

Congratulations Mr. Engineer!

Two days ago we were lucky enough to be able to celebrate my dearest brother Joseph’s Graduation ceremony. It was only 3 years ago that I was able to graduate myself with the most amazing feeling of accomplishment, and I couldn’t be happier for my brother to be able to experience that same feeling.

During the ceremony there was a very inspiring speaker who reminded us that although knowledge informs us, education transforms us. The process of going to university will always be a period in our lives that will changes us, and shape us into the person that we are. The people we meet, the lessons we learn, the mistakes we make – they are all a part of us. Although sometimes the world can be so bleak and dark with exams and self doubt looming above us, but I look back now at this time with fondness. You will never have that experience again. You will never be that same person again. So if you’re in University now, enjoy it! Love it, live it, savour ever moment of it. Because after University, the world is just a little bit different.

Another point he made that really struck me was, its ok to still not know what you want to be when you grow up. And this came from a speaker who was so well accomplished, so well travelled, and honestly I felt like he had already succeeded in life. People always assume that by going to University our lives are predetermined. In a way, yes – for example getting a degree in Medicine usually means you will practice medicine; but at the same time, not really. So many people find that the jobs they ultimately end up with have nothing to do with the course that they studied. Of course sometimes this can be a huge hurdle to not be able to find a job after Uni, but remember that when a door closes a window opens! Opportunities arise from the most unexpected places! So stay positive, stay optimistic! Be excited about your future! Although I’m a Doctor right now, I’m excited about the possibilities of tomorrow and where my life will take me in 10 years time!

So to sum up, stay inspired!

Always dream, and dream big. Stay curious. Be adventurous. Do not be afraid of what the future may have in store. And explore the possibilities, the endless possibilities of your tomorrow!

To my brother Joseph,

Congratulations. I’m so proud and eagerly anticipate you excel in life. I’m so excited to see what accomplishments you will undertake. You have such amazing potential and I know you will go far. Remember to stay humble and don’t be jaded by the world. Let your determination be your strength, and have faith that the Lord will guide you. I will always support you in everything you do, and all I ask is you not forget me when you’ve “made it”. haha! Love you!

xoxo Ate

Not so typically spring.

Spring is among us, and what better way to celebrate that by wearing… black! I know what you’re all thinking… that it’s not the most spring-appropriate colour, but I’ve been dying to wear this top and now that it’s warming up I can actually wear it without having to wear anything on top! Of course I bring a blazer “just in case”, but it has been so free-ing to wear some shorter sleeve shirts. And this one in particular I love the bell sleeve detail that I’m still not sick of, and I can actually finally wear it without having to hide the sleeves under a blazer!

Oh and did I mention this was my Balenciaga bag’s first big day out? Oh yes, it was. And she was perfect. Can you believe that inside that bag right now is actually a 13 inch macbook pro! Such an amazingly functional and rocker chic bag, I can help but feel cool everytime I wear her!

So tell me guys, what clothing item are you excited to wear now that it’s warming up?

Well well, its been a while. I know, here she goes again at trying to blog and then failing miserably in the next 2-3 months, and completely deserting it again for 1 year. I know.
There isn’t much to say, without choking on a whole lot of excuses. To be honest, I’ve just been busy, and when I’m not busy I’m too lazy.

I’ve decided to go back into blogging because I need a space for thoughts, and essentially and outlet for my creativity. I dont think I’ll be going back into making videos any time soon because let’s face it takes too much of my time. Filming hasn’t come quite naturally for me as photography does. I enjoy taking photos, I enjoy editing photos, and I enjoy looking at photos. Sure, videos are wonderful, but I dont enjoy editing them as much as I do filming them. I can tell you right now, I have over 50 videos worth of footage that I have not edited. From ombre hair tutorials, to makeup tutorials, from hauls to tag videos, to vlogs. I literally have enough footage material to make 50 videos. Are they ever going to see the light of day? I have no idea. Just the thought of editing them… well, needless to say it’s certainly not lighting a fire in my belly.

So, I have succumbed to blogging. I’ve recently re-joined the instagram world, and needless to say I am ADDICTED. I love editing those little pictures and posting them. Lets not kid ourselves, it’s a lazy girl’s blog. HA. Anyways, I’ve really enjoyed fashion blogs and I’ve enjoyed posting outfit pics on instagram, so why the hell not try my hand at the blogging game again. So, here goes!

I will be posting some outfits that I’ve already featured on my instagram, so sincere apologies. But I’ll scatter them out, and throw in some pics of my trip to melbourne and sydney, and also some more europe trip pictures that I haven’t quite gotten around to editing… oops.
